Getting TO/AROUND: I was amazed how modern and clean the trains were,Panoramic windows for the views.
Getting a ticket is very easy and the trains are very punctual.
Even the train station itself was very pleasing to look at.
Inside is also the Tourist Information office, and they speak English.
You can view how much your ticket will cost on the machine before purchasing a ticket.

Getting TO/AROUND: The bus trip to Altenahr depends on where you pick up the coach? we would have picked it up at Ipswich but thought better of it and got the coach at Ashford.
Money well spent ,if wed got the coach at Ipswich we would have traveled 5hrs before even getting to Ashford in Kent.
At the time we went it cost £62:00 for B&B at the Holiday Inn North Ashford, and you can leave your car for up to 4days FREE.
I have done a separate link for the Holiday Inn.
Once we got the coach at Ashford it was a 10hr Hike to Altenahr however, and it was a bit tiring, the coach driver was very good and stopped every 2hrs for a break including dinner.
The crossing was through the channel tunnel which took 35mins, my first exp on the channel tunnel , the train was very smooth.
The coach that travelscope used in this instance was Anglia Coaches.(Thanks John it was a good journey).

A very pretty place, well worth visiting. Sounds like you had a good time and the trip was good value.

Just to say that Bahn Hotel Hübel is no more. They closed at the end of Dec 2007 due to the death of the owner's husband. Sad day for the town.
