Clubs: Nightclubs

Because Ljubljana is not a big city we only have few clubs, but still enough if you are new to the city. The most famous one among tourists is Global, but I am not a fan. It is way too snoby for me, but you can see it for your self, many people do like it. Guys usually have to pay to get in, girls can go in for free.

The other one, also in the city center, is Bachus. More relaxed than Global.

There is also KMŠ, which can be a lot of fun, but gets too full and trust me on this- don't go if you are too sober. It is one of the most drunk places around, it is a meat market, but music can be good.

My favorite is Orto Bar. It plays rock music and has different theme evenings on weekdays. Also heavier rock, metal, a bit of r'n'b, but mostly you can hear old and new rock music. Go on Thuesdays if you like the 80s.

Also try what's going on in Metelkova Mesto. It's very close to Orto Bar.

I don't have much to say on any other clubs in Ljubljana. They are not worth it. Sorry. :)

Best pubs in Ljubljana would be Maček, Zlata ladjica (both at Ljubljanica river), Cutty Sark (in Knafljev prehod), Guinness Pub and Partick's.

One problem I found in these places is that Guinness can taste terrible (but sometimes you can be lucky). They are open till one in the morning, the atmposphere is great and stuff friendly. During the summer it is much easier to find a nice place for a drink, as all pubs have tables outside so you don't have to be so picky. Anything by the river will do.

You can find live music outside at the bar called Pločnik (by Prešeren Square).
If you are here during the summer go to Makalonca. It's also by the river, but don't bother if it's not summer.
Drinks are not as cheap as you might think. Tourists are often surprised by the prices, although if you like wine then ours (Slovenian) is cheap enough (around 1 euro per glass).

Dress Code: There is no dress code for pubs.
