Peaceful in Winter

by haysnoe - last update: Jan 31, 2006

Where is Everybody?

From parking lot on a sunny January day
I am getting more and more addicted to winter travel. Visited Paris and Northwest France in January to a silent welcome from few tourists.

At some of the world's greatest tourist sites, Notre Dame, Eifel Tower, Versailles, Mt. St. Michel, I consistently was amazed at the fact that I was able to just walk right up with no lines anywhere. Unbelievable.

The only smallish crowd was at Mt. St. Michel, but I was there on a Sunday and the parking lot was only a quarter full. Plus, the other visitors were mostly French.
