| Beramar Grill with the helpful owner |
Staying in Praia We stayed at Praia for seven days. The first stay was at hotel Marisol, and then we learned the town to know. We spend a lot of time walking around, talking with the friendly people living there. We visited the beach, and a lot of good restaurants. A restaurant with a beautiful view “The Poet”, and up at the Plateau we also had some enjoyable visits to 5al de Musica. Saturday evening we enjoyed live music up there. At restaurant Beramar Grill we had some delicious meals and we also met the kind and helpful owner of the restaurant, John. After spending some days travelling around the island by car, we came back to Praia. By then she had got a problem with the back, probably because of all the bricks of the road. It was really painful. John, the owner of Beramar, helped us up to the hospital, and gave all support we could need in the situation. We stayed by hotel Tropical this time, and had some luxury days with good service there before we were able to travel back. |
Driving to Tarafal On Monday we hired a car at hotel Tropical, heading for Tarafal. We had lunch in Saő Domnigos, and driving further through the beautiful landscape of the island. We arrived Tarafal in the evening, and stayed at hotel Tarafal. It was a good, luxury, and not expensive, hotel. We enjoyed Tarafal both at daytime, and night! We stayed until Wednesday morning, but had loved to stay much longer. It was a nice beach and a good atmosphere in the city. He got his shoes fixed by the shoemaker sitting on a bench under a three behind the church. We bought ice cream to the children in the street from a woman that was walking with her ”ice-cream shop on her head”. On Wednesday we drove to Assomada, and visited the huge market that are in the city on Wednesdays. On the afternoon we drove out to Ribeira de Barca. Read the chapter of “the guide of Ribeira de Barca .” In Assomada we stayed at a new hotel, Hotel Avenida. It was really recommendable. Nice and cheap. On Thursday we drove from Assomada back to Praia. |
| The cave of Ribera de Barca |
The "guide of Ribeira de Barca" Arriving Ribeira de Barca we met Caludino R. Oliveria. He asked if he could help us with something. We had read about a cave. And he offered us to guide us there. He was an excellent guide! First we drove a distance on a small road. We parked the car by his relatives. They let us taste their local Grog. It was good! During the walk to the caves he was extremely helpful. Even though we didn’t had a common language he managed to learned us a lot about Cape Verde. We will remember the walk for long time. The cave was also worth a sight! |
