Chicago was the second US city that I visited and it really stole my heart. Perhaps it was partly due to vt'er Dabs(Kristi) being such an amazing guide and font of information but I enjoyed my trip here far more then NYC. Chicago for me had amazing architecture, great food, a reasonable transport network (not as extensive as NYC) and just a great vibe. During the summer months there are a lot of free things going on and like my friend said "If its free, its for me" Before you visit do some research into finding out when the museums have their free days, free entry after hours and what discount coupons (see general tips) you can use. I would advise you do 2 things if nothing else eat a proper Chicago hot dog without ketchup (red / tomato sauce) and go on the architectural river tour. Also why not arrange to meet up with a Chicago greeter this is a free service and can give you a great insight into this fine city. |

Dabs Mon Sep 7, 2009 23:34 UTC You sure did get around! Glad you enjoyed my city and hope you come back again some day :-) | starship Wed Sep 2, 2009 16:34 UTC Very informative page and helpful restaurant tips! | yooperprof Tue Sep 1, 2009 15:24 UTC Enjoyed your restaurant tips - you "tell it like it is!" I haven't been to Berghof for twenty years, glad to hear that they still can satisfy with their German specialties. | toonsarah Tue Aug 25, 2009 19:53 UTC Millennium Park looks and sounds lovely, and I like the practicality of some of your other tips - including the loos (or should I say restrooms?) Great restaurant tips too - shame about Pegasus though |
