Maastricht is one of Hollands oldest cities founded in 47AD, in the early 8th centuary the city was both the spiritual center as well as the center for trade. It is situated on the banks of the Maas river, a sunny spot squeezed between the borders of Germany & Belgium.
Maastricht is known to many as being one of the first cities in the Netherlands to be liberated by the allies in WW 2. In 1992 the famous Maastricht treaty was signed symbolising the uniting of eurpoe. |
