Don't take an unlicensed mini-cab / taxi
Taxis Review
This tip is to say rather be safe then sorry, there have been some unfortunate incidents involving unlicensed cabs / taxis.
My advice is to either hail a black cab which operate frequently in central London, or else obtain a mini cab direct from the company office or via phone. If you come out of a night club the door men will usually find you a cab home.
