London town | The London eye in a stormy sky |
After organising a successful vt treasure hunt in July 2009 I decided it was about time I brushed up on my London pages. I live in North London & travel into work takes about 45min. I have always house shared mainly because its far too expensive to own your own place in central london. London has been my home since June 1999 and I have had the opportunity to do lots of walking tours indulging my passion whilst learning about the history and secret areas around the city. I am fortunate enough to work within the original one square mile, being the once walled city of London, were we still have our own police force as well as our own Lord mayor. England is in my blood with my parents being English so I love absorbing its rich culture. Going to the west end is a must I have been to several shows including Phantom of the Opera, Woman in White, Saturday Night Fever, Les Miserables, Lion King & the hillarious Producers if you need suggestions in this regard please feel free to ask, also check out theatre monkey for seating advice My view of London is as a window of opportunity, not a cold grey city as many see it. I am lucky that a lot of my relatives live in England in various areas which gives me an opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle. |
| | Discover London We do have a fairly complicated travel pricing system which I will attempt to explain in a tip, however once you have your oyster card the london tube is an extensive network which will take you wherever you wish to go. London has always been tarred with the notion of being a very expensive city to visit but on the contrary I would say there are many free things to do its just a matter of doing your homework. A vast majority of the museums in London are free also there are many free events in & around the city also look here for whats free in london. At present there are many 2for1 offers an discount vouchers for restaurants restaurant vouchers. As I said previously I have done a lot of walking tours with blue badge guide Diane Burnstein uncovering some of londons hidden corners & secrets. I would recommend that people do a walking tour round the city as there is so much to see & history to learn about this great city. During the 3rd week of September various listed buildings are open to the public which are usually private - this is an unique opportunity to get to nose about for free!! London Open House Often there are specials on entry into london attractions either with your train ticket paper travelcard (not oyster) check out 2 for 1 entry. |
