Walking - a great way to see things. | The beautiful Beijing Gardens |
We took a long walk through Beijing from one of the hotels we stayed at (can't think of it). Walking is a great way to see things in a city including how the locals live.
We walked through this beautiful garden on our way to the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square.
We also found very interesting little laneways with people living in a mini-community (when we got slightly lost at one stage trying to return to the hotel). No dramas though, it probably ended up being a short-cut. It was fascinating to watch and we would have missed it otherwise. |

A great way to see more of Beijing After our visit to the Forbidden City, we took a ride in this pedicab. Our driver let us pose with our friend Chris as the driver. God, he was such a hoot!
It is a great, but hair-raising experience to do this as traffic (including many buses came straight towards us and passed within a couple of metres. The traffic is crazy in China. | | | Come on Chris, move it along! |
