Moundsville Travel Guide: 6 reviews and 19 photos

Moundsville is a town on the Ohio River in northern West Virginia, about 10 miles south of Wheeling and 50 miles southwest of Pittsburgh. Despite its small size, it has some interesting things to see. The town's primary sights are the former West Virginia Penitentiary (jail), an imposing gothic building which is now open for tours; the Marx Toy Museum, which has a great collection of toys produced in a local factory by the Marx Toy Company from the 1930s to the 1980s; and the Indian burial mound after which the town is named.
