Hilton Head is an island off of the southeastern coast of South Carolina that has become one of the most popular resorts in the Southeastern United States. People come to Hilton Head for three reasons: to relax, to play golf, and to go to the beach. Hilton Head's beaches are wide and uncrowded, and its water is nice and warm compared to what we are used to in the northern US. In addition, its golf courses are among the nation's best - Hilton Head features courses designed by top designers such as Robert Trent Jones and Tom Fazio. For the kids, there are a number of miniature golf courses.

Hilton Head is a very family-oriented resort. It is much quieter than Myrtle Beach, the other major resort area in South Carolina. It is also focused on rental homes and condos, as opposed to hotels and motels. While there are bars and restaurants that you can go to in the evenings, they are very laid back. Most visitors to the island spend their evenings at home with their families. If you are looking for a wild party scene, Hilton Head is not your place. If you want to relax with your family, it is a great destination.

    Nice tips and photos! I have been to South Carolina several times to visit my sister and her family, but I have never been to Hilton Head. The large portions of seafood at Hudson's sound great. Cheers, Bill

    My past brought me here 20+ times to foreclose on real estate for all Sea Pines and Hilton Head Pl. I learned a lot about locals and customs. Glad you enjoyed it too.
