Devil's Postpile - Devils Postpile National Monument

The Devil's Postpile is an unusual rock formation near Yosemite National Park near the town of Mammoth. It is a cliff of hexagonal basalt columns that are about 60 feet tall. It has been protected as a National Monument by the US National Park Park Service. To get to the postpile, you must take a bus and then hike about 1/2 mile.

Pros:Interesting rock formation, great views along the way to reach it
Cons:A bit of a hassle to get to
