Salzburg is one of the most beatiful little cities on earth. Unfortunately, the secret has been out for a while, so the city gets overrun with tourists every summer. If you can put up with crowds, then you will enjoy Salzburg. Tour the castle on the hill, where you can get a great view of the town, then tour the town, particularly the archbishop's palace and the churches. The film "The Sound of Music" was based in Salzburg, and there are tours that take you to visit various locations seen or mentioned in the film. We didn't do the tour, but just walked around the city, which we enjoyed.
For classical music lovers, Salzburg has numerous concerts in the summer. We didn't attend any, because Anna was only 6 months old at the time, and had a habit of crying randomly, just like any other baby in the world.
- Pros:Cute town with beautiful buildings, great view from the castle.
- Cons:Way too many tourists
- In a nutshell:A crowded, but wonderful little city

Thanks for your nice comment on my Salzburg page. Unless you're a diehard fan of The Sound of Music, you really don't have to take the tour as I've discovered:)
