Side is an old Roman port city that has become one of Turkey's largest beach resorts. At the heart of Side is a small historic center, which includes numerous Roman ruins that are interwoven among the town's buildings and streets. The most impressive of the Roman ruins is the large ampitheater, which is unusual in that it was not built into a hillside like most of the Roman and Greek ampitheaters in Turkey. Away from the historic older part of Side, dozens of modern 4* and 5* resorts line the beachfronts for miles in both directions.
- Pros:Interesting Roman ruins, especially the theater
- Cons:Lots of massive tourist hotels and crowds

Those amazing ancient amphitheaters were great architectural feats. That they are still standing is proof. I wonder how many modern stadiums will withstand such a test of time. Great photos.
