| Cruising along a canal in Venice |
On our recent vacation to Slovenia we realized that Venice was only a couple hours away by train. As a result, we decided to do detour from our itinerary and do a day trip to Venice, which was definitely worth the effort. Venice packs a huge amount of interesting things to see into a very compact area. You could spend a week there and not run out of things to see and do. There are plenty of wonderful churches, museums and places to visit. Or, just spend the day wandering the narrow streets and checking out the shops and restaurants.
Venice's most unique feature is that it has no cars - everything is done by boat and on foot. Anna had fun seeing the different types of boats on the canals (taxi boats, police boats, delivery boats, gondolas, etc.). |
