Taos New Mexico-Land of enchantment.

Taos Trip.

Heading in to Taos
Wow, I can hardly believe that's it's been almost four years since our last trip to NM..We'll have to remedy that and soon!

New Mexico is truly an enchanted land of rustic beauty...I wish I could live in all the beautiful places I've visited over the years but alas, that would be highly unrealistic at best..I think I'll just dream of them all instead. :-)

When we visited NM we made Las Vegas NM our "base" so to speak..It's full of history and has a ton of old buildings and architecture around the area..We stayed at the Plaza Hotel..It's very old and is situated on the town square..The rooms were nice enough and while it wasn't the best it probably was considered so for that area..

Las Vegas NM is in my opinion a slowly dying town..there is no economy there to speak of except for tourism and the natives aren't doing enough to promote it in my opinion..There are a ton of oportunities there if someone would take the inititive and rebuild/remodel some of the more interesting older buildings..but instead they will probabaly slowly fade away without a second thought by anyone in that area..It's really quite sad.

No Starbucks to be found Near Taos

And none in Las Vegas NM either..Silly us, we wound up driving from Las Vegas all the way into Santa Fe just to get a Starbucks. I think it was about 60-65 miles one way..Yikes! How citified can you get! The coffee houses in Taos and the cafes in Las Vegas just couldn't compare though and when you're hooked, you ARE hooked on Starbucks. :-)

Pros:"Fantastic scenery, rustic beauty, full of history."
Cons:"It's a sad fact of life that NM is full of abject poverty."
In A Nutshell:"A wonderful place to visit."
