Wall Street: Charging Bull
  • Tip Rating:
  • We were walking down Wall Street from Trinity Church and turned up Broadway (I think that's how it happened) and came upon this 7000 pound bull from the rear. They say that it was delivered in front of the New York Stock Exchange in 1989 and later moved to Bowling Green. I can't imagine the place without it now. I heard that the bull was supposed to have been put up for sale in 2004 (although kept where it is), but I didn't hear if anyone bought it.

Directions: Take the 4, 5 train to Wall Street and go east to Broadway. I think. :-)

    St Patrick's Cathedral: Beautiful Architecture

  • Every time I go to NYC, I always end up at St. Patrick's Cathedral. Maybe it is because I'm weary of the pre-fab church buildings that are ubiquitous in my region, or perhaps it is the sheer gothic beauty and majesty of place.

Or maybe because it is practically the only place that doesn't charge admission. :-)

    It was built from 1858-1879.

Empire State Building: View from the Top
  • Tip Rating:
  • Mainstream touristy things don't usually appeal to me, but I knew I had to experience the Empire State Building, and I wasn't disappointed. This is a must-see.

Expect to spend up to five hours, depending on the crowds and if you already have your ticket. If you don't purchase your tickets online (www.esbnyc.com), you'll be directed to go downstairs from the lobby and wait in line for them.

Obviously, the way to go is online--you can go straight to the elevator waiting area if you already have tickets. Security is high, so expect a wait at the security check. I would advise you to eat before you go, and carry as little as possible with you. Unless you don't mind spending your time having people go through your bags.

Or you could just bring along someone you are madly in love with...you won't even notice the wait. :-)

Cost is $15.50, with discounts given to seniors, children, and those with military i.d.

Grand Central Terminal: Efficiency Meets Beauty

  • New York City Grand Central Terminal
  • Grand Central Terminal

  • You have to go here. If for no other reason than to be able to use the phrase "it's as busy as Grand Central Station around here" and know what that means.

The recent renovation of the terminal is worth seeing, as well. There are shops, bars, restaurants...and restrooms.

I stopped here to thaw out from the 4 degree temperature and was pleasantly surprised.

Nice NYC pages Susan. One of my favorite cities. As for New Orleans, two trips there in the last six months. It's coming along. I'll get the page done sometime soon. Thanks for your visit and comment.
