Halesowen. Where I USED to live.

by Pauldelabar - last update: Oct 9, 2005

My home. Halesowen, West Midlands

Halesowen town centre
The public house featured in the picture above was called 'The Littleton Arms' but always known as 'Pik's' (from the name of a former landlord). Now it has been renamed 'Pik's' formally.

Nearest large town(s)/city: Birmingham or Stourbridge.

Halesowen, or to be absolutely correct, Colley Gate is where I last lived in England before moving to Spain. I was born just a couple of miles away in Stourbridge, where the glass is made. My chosen profession of property development, (albeit only in a small way), means that I moved house quite frequently.

What's the current weather like in Halesowen? (Real time update Link).

The parish church

This is Halesowen

Halesowen looks nice from this angle. Not all of Halesowen is as nice as my sellected pictures show it to be.
This is Halesowen in its 'Sunday best and on its best behaviour'. Located in the heart of the decaying industrial Midlands, other locations I could have photographed could tell a different story.

This is Halesowen as it was.

Halesowen railway station before its closure and subsequent demolition. The station was quite a distance from the town it was supposed to serve.

History:
The line used to run to Old Hill on the Worcester - Stourbridge - Birmingham line in the direction shown on the photograph, and to Longbridge on the Birmingham - Longbridge - Worcester line in the other direction

The station and, indeed, the line itself was mainly used by workers at the Longbridge car factory.

Pros:"Near to all amenities and suppliers"
Cons:"The pictures make Halesowen look better than it is."
In A Nutshell:"Nice people."
