I am amazed at how sports can pleasantly mix with travel. I have never been able to do this but have seen through other VT members that their love for sport has taken them places either for trainings or tournaments.

How I wish I could travel by way of sport.

The main sport I like to watch is fencing. Next on the list would be golf.

If you are a fencer or golfer, please leave a comment on this page. who knows...one of these days we may meet by way of sport.

Once upon a fencer....

Fencing used to be my sport. Actually, I still like fencing. It is not just a sport which entails agility, precision, and quick wits, it is also a sport of grace. My main problem in Metro Manila was that there never was a venue for fencing in the Makati Area. The closest place would be the Philsports Arena in Ortigas Center, Pasig. Other than that, I got invited to join some college kids to play with them in La Salle which is in Manila. If you are familiar with the traffic of Metro Manila, the hassle of going to these places from Makati presents itself as a real obstacle.

The shift from swords to clubs

While fencing is a great sport, I came to the realization that as people move up in age and in financial stature, ALL ROADS LEAD TO THE GOLF COURSE. A time will come when the agility in fencing will be gone. Hence, the skill in swinging clubs will have to come into play. Hey, even Michael Jordan is into golf nowadays!

Marbella is the golfers paradise, I think is the city with more golf clubs per square meter!! :-) It has been a couple of years I am not conected to Golf courses, so I do not know much about prices :( Happy bew year !

hi, golfing in brunei is one of the cheapest in the region according to friends, am not a golfer though. maybe you can checkout the golfing packages of royal brunei airlines and compare. cheers
