Tips 1 - 6 of 6 Saint Petersburg Off The Beaten Path

I don't think this qualifies as "off the beaten path" because it's right in the middle of town, but I've included this activity here because I don't think most people who come to visit St. Petersburg make it a point to come here. My new friend Christina took me here, and I found it to be quite depressing. I didn't feel the animals had satifactory accomidations - at least not in comparisson to the zoos we have back in the states.

This poor fella had nothing but green sludge to swim in. He just paced back and forth in his little cage. Poor guy.

City Environs: Amusment Park

My friends took me to this amusement park a little ways outside of town. It was nice and clean and had lots of rides and activities for young people. It was a real family environment. Maybe a place to stop if you are visiting St. Petersburg with children.

This church is located right in the city, but I would imagine many tourists do not visit it because it isn't one of the big, grand attractions talked about when you visit St. Petersburg and it still is a functioning church that holds services. My friend brought me here to show me the place where she was baptised.

On the day we visited St. Vladamir's - on a Monday - we saw a wedding ceremony being performed. Unlike the church services I am used to in America, the churches in Russia are open to anyone at just about any time, no matter what happens to be going on inside. I kind of felt like an intruder coming into the church during this sacred cememony, but apparently it's no problem in Russia.! I felt lucky to be able to witness it! The family members attending the ceremony were taking lots of pictures of the bride and groom, so I snuck one in, too.
