"The land of "Hello Mister!"." South Kalimantan Province by aabel
South Kalimantan Province Travel Guide: 64 reviews and 104 photos
I've been to the capital city of South-Kalimantan (Kal-Sel), Banjarmasin, and in a few surrounding cities. Tourists usually use this area as a transit point to Tanjung Puting NP in Central-Kalimantan to visit the orangutan rehabilitation centre. To see real wild orangutans head e.g. northwards, to Kutai NP.
This part of Kalimantan is, I think, one of the best places to acclimatise to the atmosphere of the world's third biggest island.
Pros and Cons
- Pros:Nice, friendly people, mostly without hassling
- Cons:Slightly more expensive than Java, but still cheap in European terms.
