Blue Heron - Myrtle Beach
Blue Heron

A blue heron is scouring the beach at Huntington Beach national Park in search of mollusks, insects and crustaceans.

Who knows...I might see it in Ontario in a couple of months!

Teeth and whale ear bone - Myrtle Beach

Teeth and whale ear bone

Fossil tooth hunt

Hunting for shark teeth and other fossils along the beach is great fun. You are not likely to find any 15 cm (6") megalodon (ancient great white) chompers but 2.5 cm (1") sand shark teeth are a possibility. I found the smaller (pointy) tooth to the right of the photo on the beach at Huntington National Park. The squiggly bone is from the ear of an ancient whale.

U-boat

It's hard to believe that a person can live in such tight quarters for months on end! Definitely not for the claustrophobic!
