When I knew that I had to travel to Niger, I even didn't know the name of its capital, maby now it happens to you. I started looking for information and asked some VT member, but I didn't get much. No guides, no web info ...
Everyone told me that there was nothing in Niamey, and it was nearly true, but sometimes it is not needed to find something really relevant to be shaked. With this pictures and comments I would like to play my small tribute to its people, for me the biggest value of this.country. They will allways show a smile, even if they are asking for a "cadeau" (present).
Niamey is the safest capital I have found in Africa. Sometimes the pedlar can be annoying, but that will only happen in the museum or in the craft shops in the market "Petit marché". Absolutely different will be the people from the villages, specially if they are not used to have visitors.
My suggestion in a sentence: Go out, walk in the streets, talk to the people (if you can speak french) and make a trip to find out some villages.
I hope this web will be usefull to those who face the same expirience. Lets start! |
