..."From atop the Belfort, below us, a sea of red as waves of red-tiled roofs flood the "Venice of the North". Eddies of tourists swirl through the network of roads, quickly drowning out the existence of serenity. Around me, at 366 steps above ground, I was sharing space with a tower full of people, self-imposed; like trapped victims of a big flood, trying our best to raise our hands out to a higher being, seeking salvation as the eddies of current below us swirled and raged its way up, getting higher and higher...
I cannot deny that Brugge is a charming city but yet you could not put your hands up and even pretend to deny the commercialism baggage that comes with the seduction. To be fair, I was here on a quick day-trip, so perhaps I should stew a little more in the city to feel the real vibe, but unfortunately, first impressions always count"...
