..."Just for the sake that I saw Tintin in his native country, the trip to Brussels was worth it. Headquarter of the European Union. Flemish meets French, knocking into English. I gave the Europeans full points for linguistic dexterity.
I couldn't pin down an identity for the city, simply there were too many facades to peel away to try to find the real thing below. You get these lovely medieval and gothic inspired buildings that spin your head, and you turn down a road and ran smack into a modern silver and glass thing looking down at you. It is supposed to be an International City, yet 2 of the biggest tourist draw are of a small boy and a small girl peeing. By the third day, I decided to save myself the headache and enjoy the city for what it is"...

DanielF Mon Sep 17, 2007 18:15 UTC Great page. The Belgian Comic Strip Center is indeed housed in a former Department Store. However, Asterix and Obelix do not have any real connexion with Brussels or Belgium. | littlesam1 Fri Jan 19, 2007 16:54 UTC Great page on a beautiful city. Brussels is one of my favorite places. | Dabs Tue Aug 29, 2006 02:57 UTC Another terrific page for Belgium!!! And it appears that nothing in Brussels has 366 stairs that I have to climb LOL | Tripack Fri Mar 31, 2006 22:04 UTC Brussels is a good place to enjoy great meals, chocolate (very competitive with our Swiss made;-) and of course local beers. Thanks for your B-Day wishes. Greetings from the Swiss Alps ;-) |
