Sugga Doony Country

by saccharinicity - last update: Jan 1, 2007

Happy Thanksgiving to me!

Magna Plaza Shopping Center (thanks pieter_jan_v!)
My last trip of 2005 was to the Netherlands. Thanksgiving was spent in Amsterdam this year, and what a holiday it was!

We were unfortunately there for only a long weekend. Most days found us a bit too *relaxed* and not as productive and adventurous as I would have hoped, but such is the first-timer in Amsterdam.

I will make it up the next time.
Canal by night
Amsterdam is a beautiful and unique city. The architechture was amazing, unlike anything I have ever seen in the states. The crooked houses, the canals, the boathouses. All so beautiful. I can imagine to retire here and live in a boathouse :)
Busy
I am not sure I became familiar enough to give many tips on the city, I was too much wandering in a state of wonder. But a must-do (and the only actual things we did do) were to see the Anne Frank house and take a canal boat tour. There are also day-long excursions out of the city (and country!) for very cheap. Perhaps next time I will keep myself in check and go on one.

Pros:"Bicycles are common transport, beautiful city scenes."
Cons:"It is easy to lose yourself there which could mean you don't see as much as you might hope."
In A Nutshell:"Beautiful. Next time I promise not to get sidetracked."
