"Who Are These Einsteins Who Write This Crap?" Omaha by Stephist

Omaha is not with out it's problems, it's blind love to the Republican party and it's inability to say no to anyone associatied with Creighton can be quite frustrating to any resident of Omaha who is not a sheep. however some of these pages by people who 'apparantly" live here or have lived here are just hilarious.

5 shootings in one day? well since there were 19 murders last year in Omaha I find that to be an exaggeration or more then likely and out right lie. As for the Omaha not being as safe as Denver or Columbus, I would like to see where those numbers came from. Omaha has a lower murder rate then Denver and a murder rate that is twice as low as Columbus Ohio's

As for the people being rude that is not true either. The are pious and they think they invented morality but no, they are not rude, quite hospitable in fact, unlike Denver which I suffered in for 4 years. NOW THAT PLACE IS THE BIRTHPLACE OF RUDE PEOPLE!

The worst area of Omaha is just north of Creighton university, where the University's virtual ownership of the town has lead to a homeless problem in Omaha's minority community. When ever CU needs more land the city is more then happy to give in, no matter how many people lose their homes in the process, plus it's an area very few business's and sadly must Omahan's figure "well thats where the Black folks live, so who cares about it." south of downtown in an area that used to be Itallian but is an area that is now largely latino. Henry Doorly Zoo ( one of the best in the country) is located here as well as Johnny Rosenblatt stadium where the college world series is played every year.

The city does get more prosperous the farther west you go, but as for the notion that you don't go east of 72nd at night, or everything east of 72nd street is "all boarded up" well I live on S. 42nd street and it's midnight as I write this and I don't hear any gunshots!!!! once agin somebody either exaggerated or out and out lied.

Omaha's downtown is not great, this is a point I will concied, but once again, all boarded up? please!

Honestly though other then the zoo and the CWS what is there here for tourist to do?

So there you have it, my hometown Omaha is a by-an-large a safe city with a few bad areas,as anytown with 800,000 people has, but 80% of the city is a safe as anywhere else in
the country despite what the people have written here.

• Pros:Nice sized city with friendly people that is a safe place to grow up.
• Cons:Poeple lack critical thinking skills, and it is still sadly segregated
• In a nutshell:Omaha is My hometown! I have had my philosophical differances with her, and I am not sure I want to stay here, but I will always be proud to be from here!
