As ever we end up here out of season due to cheap travel. Great place for walks, amazing rockpools.

Christmas Day Kilkee

If you fancy a Christmas dip with company, try Kilkee. Happy to leave this one to the locals... but had a good part after. Think it is regular fundraising event for the local Lifeboat.

Wren Boys - 26th Dec

On St Stephens Day...first decorate your 'tree', then troop around local houses/farms with a group of the lads singing in both Irish (the cousins) and English (my lads)..as best as I can remember it went like this

The wren, the wren, the king of the birds,
On St Stephens Day it was caught in the furze,
We hunted it up We hunted it down, we hunted it out of Kilkee Town
Here is the wren as you can see, atop our fine Christmas tree,
God Bless you all fine Irish men,
And give us a penny to bury the Wren.

Everyone seemed very happy to see them and the tour was very lucrative.
Seemed the locals happy to see old traditions being kept buy the young uns.
