Too Many Restaurants, Too Little Time...

Pecan Pie at Clary's
Our hopes were high for some good cookin' when we travelled down to Savannah for an all too brief three day weekend in February. Savannah did not disappoint, but yet we were disappointed because at the end of our trip, stuffed to the gills, there were still certain quintessential restaurants we had missed. After the first meal I made it clear to my boyfriend-an eater- that I could only have two meals a day in this down home food haven. He obliged and we missed some great joints. Oh well, I guess we will have to go back to Savannah after all. I'll be sure to highlight the good restaurants we didn't miss in my restaurant section so make sure to check it out if you love good food the way I love good food.
Though I do like good food, it was not food alone that led us to Savannah. It is hard to make time to travel with a full time job and so I try to take what I've got in time off and make the most of it with hopes that the places I really like, I will visit again later on down the road. Savannah will be a repeat visit. It was not until the 2nd day there that the Savannah lure kicked in and we wanted to know more and more about Savannah culture and history. On our second night in Savannah, we went on one of the city's many ghost tours and got a heavy dose of history. We heard all about some of the town's little secrets, it's most famous ghosts and the stories behind them. This is a city with a past- a tad quirky, a tad off beat, and very romantic, Savannah continues to hold my interest captive even weeks after the trip has ended.
To make this sweet and simple, if you are a traveller, a romantic, a fan of good cuisine or anything in between Savannah should be high on your list of places to visit. We had an unbelievable time and left ourselves plenty more to explore the next time around...
