Aspara Conservation This was a must do location. The temples are beautiful, the people are friendly, and the food is incredible. I stayed at Molly Malone’s and the staff was great. The pass cost $40.00 USD for three days and the ride cost $12.00 per day. There was a lot of tourists there, but that’s ok, there was not a lot of lines and they even had a branch of the Blue Pumpkin restaurant outside of Angkor Wat temple. |
In town If you are looking for major action, Siem Reab is not for you. This place is very laid back. During the day, it was too hot to really go do anything. I would hang out on the balcony and work on an assignment that was due. At night, there is a great happy hour, wonderful restaurants, and a good mix of locals and tourists. I got to eat like I have filet minion tastes and a sirloin budget. There is a small market selling souvenirs and knock off products. Siem Reab is a great place to relax for a few days. |
Getting in and out I was daring when traveling to Siem Reab from Phnom Penh, I took the bus. Eight hours and one stop later, I was there. The ride was bumpy and uncomfortable, however for $6.00 USD, it was worth it. When I got into town, a tuk tuk driver found me and became my tour guide for the next three days. When leaving at 5 am in the morning, I took a tuk tuk to the airport. The streets were deader than disco and the ride was wonderful. Once at the airport, I had to wait for an hour to get through customs, sat at the airport and that was it. Instead of boarding from a gate, I had to walk to the plane. At least the plane was modern. |
