A Gallery Of Baroque Painting - Gospa od Skrpjela

Directly off the coast of Perast, in Boka Kotorska Bay, there's this lovely islet of Our Lady of the Rocks (Gospa od Skrpjela). It was named after the patroness of seamen and fishermen.

According to a legend, Perastan fishermen saw Our Lady on the place where there had been a shipwreck before. They made an oath to build a church on this site in her honour. Since there was no island there, the fishermen decided to make it themselves.
