Nesebar is 1 of the most ancient towns in Europe. It has a rich history.

Initially established as a fortified Thracian settlement, it later passed through different stages: a Greek polis, a Roman colony, a Byzantine and medieval Bulgarian sea fortress.

This is a town built on the ruins of earlier towns.

It was founded as Menebria (the city of Menas) by Thracian King Menas. The name later changed into Mesembria and finally into Nesebar.

In 1956 the old part of the town was declared a national heritage park.

Have many in the bank from this destination... churches feature as background details only though, so it was very interesting and informative to read your tips about them - impressive knowledge of the history!
