"City of Pelicans" Pensacola by el_ruso

I was working in the Pensacola area this month doing hail claims. This is a small affluent town, very Southern in its atmosphere and architecture. People here are very friendly and nice.

The downtown area which faces the bay has a lot of restored older buildings, many with ornate iron balconies. There are a lot of pelican statues dotted around, and each one is painted in a unique way. There is a section of restored victorian buildings to the east of downtown, as well as many more north of it along Palafax. In fact, there is a lot of new construction which mimics victorian style (Victorian revival?).

• Pros:friendly and nice people, very clean and organized
• Cons:very small and lacks big city excitement
• In a nutshell:a typical nice Southern town
