Quito is an amazing place: civilized and convenient, while exotic and exciting at the same time. It is definitely not expensive, while offering a lot to see and experience. |
| | The Old City The old city is a large area filled with beautifully restored buildings and churches. There is a wonderful museum of the city here as well. Above all there is a promontory called Panecillo with a winged statue of Mary. There is a wonderful museum of the city here as well. |
| | The New City The new city conists of three parts: the area adjoing the old city, the Mariscal Sucre area, and the hi-rise suburbs. The first part contains the magnificent new cathedral, pretty residential areas, and parks. The second is home to upper class residences, hotels, offices and the Museum of Banco Central. The latter is a clean and modern metropolis buttressed by scenic mountains and a large park. |
