Majorca (Mallorca) is situated in the Mediterrean Sea in a group of islands called the Balearics, along with Ibiza and Menorca. We stayed in the town of Cala d'Or which is situated on the east coast. It has a beautiful marina and town centre as well as great/clean beaches. There are some lovely restaurants on the marina front serving a variety of foods as well as some friendly bars. |

During the holiday we visited the Caves of Drach (Cuevas del Drach) which contains one of the worlds largest underground lakes, Lake Martel. It is very interesting to see how these caves have formed over millions over years and the unusual shapes they create. At the end of the tour around the cave you take your seat in what is like an underground ampitheatre and a trio of boats cross the lake infont of you with an orchestra performing a piece of classical music. Overall I would say this excursion is worth the money and the time but is aimed more at adults than small children who may become bored by the end display and the walk through the cave. |
