Carmel is such a quaint seaside village nestled in a pine forest . The tree lined streets are full of boutique shops, art galleries, cute cottages, lots of cafes & resturants. It is also home to a historical Spanish Mission with Medditeranean fountains & gardens. No streetlights, mailboxes ,tacky signs or discount warehouses are allowed here.It is also against the law in Carmel to cut trees & if mature tree roots break a side walk they just make a new sidewalk that goes over or around it There are no tract houses or mass produced anything. The homes are all picture perfect and sometimes seem like something from a fairytale. The unique charm of Carmel is both well planned & protected. The beach has soft white sand & is a very beautiful part of the California Coastline. |

VeronicaG Tue Mar 25, 2008 17:05 UTC Carmel looks so pretty. We haven't traveled here yet, but it 's an enticing destination! Regards from Texas.... | KimberlyAnn Sun Mar 23, 2008 19:26 UTC Nice tips! I found it very interesting that in Carmel the houses are identified by name rather than by numbers. Also I found the info about the cypress and pines a learning experience. I didn't kow that these were being introduced in other countries! | TheTravelSlut Sun Mar 9, 2008 19:47 UTC Hello & absolutely great photos and tips--good reason you are a top 5 for this location. Thanks! Ann, The Travel Slut | Ewingjr98 Sat Feb 2, 2008 01:17 UTC Thx for checking out my Monterey pages. You have another nice page here on Carmel. ~Joe |
