Getting TO/AROUND: Queenstown airport has daily flights from the gateway of the North Island, Auckland International Airport & from Christchurch ,the gateway for the South Island. We flew in on Air New Zealand which took a little less than 2 hrs from Auckland. Air New Zealand also has short flights from many other small airport as well. Book flights early for best rates.

MONEY SAVING TIP FOR FOREIGN TRAVELERS:

I have found that booking my flight from the States to NZ on the airnewzealand.com site is fine.But for domestic flights it is a good idea to use the website below or have a Kiwi friend or yourself book your domestic flights inside NZ to get a "mate rate" It's the same principle as foreigners having a California native get those discount Disney tickets for them ; )

Getting TO/AROUND: Walking down Shotover Street when we saw the Rent A Dent sign . We walked in without reservations and were in LUCK a car was available But as we were doing the paperwork several calls came in and the answer was the same "sorry we have no more cars available" So I would recommend if you are planning to rent a car to call ahead and make a reservation.

The thing I like the best about Rent A Dent was there low prices, much lower than the competition. The car we rented was in great running condition and I never did find a dent.

Getting TO/AROUND: Upon arriving at Queenstown airport we hailed a cab at the kerb (curb) Lyn, the taxi driver was driving a spacious minivan. She offered us a discount fare if we would share our ride with a couple who were going to a hotel on the way to ours. Being a win win win situation we all agreed.

After being dropped off at our hotel I discovered I had left my purse in her cab. We called Queenstown Taxis and told them my purse was in Lyn’s minivan and she came back and delivered it to the front desk later FREE of Charge !! So if you want to hire a Queenstown Taxi for a sight seeing tour or airport service, be sure to ask for Lyn J. and tell her cnango told you so !!
