The whole country of New Zealand is known for being a very beautiful and diverse country populated with warm & friendly people (Kiwis). I have always heard by both American & Kiwi friends who have traveled there, that Queenstown is one of the best if not The Best of NZ. So when I boarded the plane at AKL I was very excited & full of expectations. I was not disappointed, it was a wonderful vacation destination. Queenstown is located on the South Island. The town center is built around a little square bay and spreads up into the surrounding hills.Beyond the lake sits a majestic mountain range called ' The Remarkables '.Nearby are pristine rivers ,streams and green valleys with vineyards. The town has many nice hotels, shops & restaurants, all in easy walking distance. This is considered the adrenaline capitol of New Zealand with Jet boats, river rafting, fly by wire, bungy jumping and Zorbing . I preferred the more mild activities like hiking (tramping),flying over the majestic mountains, a tranquil cruise on Milford Sound & a scenic drive through vineyards of Otago to the nearby Historical & Charming Arrowtown. |

amandajayne81 Wed Dec 3, 2008 07:46 UTC Great page! Lots of ideas to think about. Glad you had a great trip (well trips) to NZ. I hope we have as much fun. Looking forward to looking at more of your pages. | tiabunna Tue Oct 14, 2008 13:39 UTC I really enjoy your NZ pages, Nancy, and this is right up there with them. Have to take a DUCK ride (old motoring enthusiast, I love 'em) and just so much to see and do there - even the exchange rate is kind! Very enjoyable. | TheWanderingCamel Thu Apr 10, 2008 01:04 UTC How have I missed this 'til now? Nice page with lots of good info about Queenstown. We're just home from our regular Wanaka Warbirds visit - I'm pleased to report NZ's as gorgeous as ever! cheers, Nancy - leyle | scottishvisitor Wed Nov 7, 2007 21:17 UTC Interesting facts on pipe bands - this will be why the Scots don't win the world pipe band contest! Nice updates since I last viewed here!! |
