by aussiejen - last update: Jul 26, 2009

A very proud Opa with granddaughter Skylar
pending.....AUGUST 2009: Family reunion happening in Brisbane

MAY 2009: Bali & Lombok.
4 glorious weeks spent mainly in Bali, with a side trip to Lombok for a few days.

AUGUST/SEPT 2008: Thailand.
2 fantastic weeks spent between Bangkok, Kanchanaburi and Hua Hin.

Side trip from Bali to Jogjakarta, Solo & Borobudur.
Had a fantastic time climbing to the top of Borobudur to see the sunrise.

FEBRUARY 2008: Bali.
Almost 2 weeks with my brother, Malcolm. Stayed in Ubud and Tanjung Benoa. Left Tony home again!

SEPTEMBER 2007: Bali.
This time just the 2 of us! After staying in Kuta for a couple of nights we headed north to Lovina for 3 nights, then 2 nights at Pacung on the way back down to Sanur.

FEBRUARY 2007: Bali.
This time my brother and my daughter came with us. Stayed in Ubud, Amed and Kuta.

Malcolm, Tony & I started off in Singapore for a few days, then Chiang Mai for 5 days, Bangkok for 3 days and a day in Singapore on the way back home.

FEBRUARY 2006: Singapore.
We (the 2 of us) went to Singapore for a long weekend as Tony's birthday present.

Malcolm, Tony & I spent time in Ubud and Sanur.

FEBRUARY 2005 : Singapore
Malcolm and I went to Singapore for 10 days, left Tony at home!

JUNE 2004: Bali
Once again 3 of us went to Bali. This time it was Seminyak, Ubud & Sanur.

AUGUST 2002: Bali
Met up with my cousin (she lives in Holland) and her kids for a reunion. Having only ever met her twice before it was a wonderful time. This was the start of holidaying there with my new man Tony and my brother.

DECEMBER 2000: Bali
1st trip o/s after my husband passed away. My 2 daughters and I went to Bali for the 1st time. Loved it.

I left New Zealand many years ago when I was 19. I was off to see the world!
Sydney was my first port of call. I was there for 3 months, then headed south to Melbourne.
That was the end of my overseas travelling for many years. I'm still here! I got sidetracked by marriage, kids and work. Although there were numerous trips home to NZ, that didn't really count as travelling!
Sadly, my husband of 28 years passed away in 2000. It meant a whole change of lifestyle for me. I sold our little farm and moved closer to Melbourne. I now live in suburbia with neighbours!!
I'm not complaining though. I have met another wonderful man and am having lots of fun : )
Finally I'm able to indulge in a bit of travel, not as much as I would like but it's been great so far.

SUNRISE

The highlight of our trip to Yogyakarta was climbing to the top of Borobudur to see this gorgeous sunrise. It meant getting up at 4am...but it was worth it, not only for the sunrise but also the people we met while waiting.
Sunrise at Sanur, Bali

BALI.... SANUR

If you can get up early enough, the sunrise at Sanur Beach can be magnificent.
This really is a magic time of the day. The other bonus is that it's a lot cooler so it's very easy to keep walking along the beach. The pathways have been upgraded since we first went there, so you will come across lots of other tourists and locals doing the same.
Want to see more? More on my SANUR pages.
KOMANG & FAMILY

BALI

Bali is one of my favourite places to visit. We have a favourite driver too, his name is Komang.
Before we went for our latest holiday I put the word out to friends and family for donations of good used clothing. Consequently I had a full suitcase of clothes to take over with us, kids and adults.
Komang was absolutely amazed! On our way to stay at Amed he detoured and took us to meet his family. What a great experince that was. He has a lovely wife (she speaks a little English), and 3 beautuful kids who speak no English...yet!! His elderly mother came out to meet us too. We were made to feel so welcome.
The 2 little girls couldn't wait to try on some "new" clothes. They both picked out one top and soon changed into it. Smiles all round:)
His youngest daughter (3 yrs) cried when she had to take it off to go to bed that night.
It was so rewarding to see the appreciation over a few clothes. They were shared out among the extended family.
I have already put out the word for our next trip in September.....I think the suitcase is almost full!!
NOT QUITE WHITE WATER RAFTING!!

THAILAND

We're back from our trip to Thailand. Loved every moment of it, now it's time to start building some pages...but don't hold your breath it could take some time!!
It's quite possible that you might find some pics on Tony's pages (Plus_1) or Malcolm's pages (msid3)
A lot of our photos will be much the same, but hopefully we will have chosen different ones to put on our VT pages.
12 Apostles

GREAT OCEAN ROAD

The scenery along the Great Ocean Rd is spectacular. This shot shows some of the Twelve Apostles, with the recently collapsed one in the foreground.
Take a look at my Port Campbell page for more photos.

MELBOURNE

SUNSET IN MELTON

MELTON

This is the town I now call home. I moved here in 2002 after having lived on a small farm further out in the country.

It was certainly a bit of a shock to move to suburbia! But I've settled in and can't see us moving in a hurry.

Well, we've moved!! Not far though, we're still in Melton. Decided it was time to build a new house. Now we're in for a lot of hard work! Gardens need to be started.

If you're ever passing through....let me know...coffee's on :)
