Great smaller city

Five years after a 2 day visit November 2007, we again stayed the last weekend of November in 2012 but this time amnaged the better part of 5 days - 4 nights out of it. Came a lot closer to doing Bergamo justice, 4 dry days unlike the previous rainy weekend, and Bergamo has went up still in our estimation . Rest of into to follow
Great walking city with the old town on the hill the main destination, also all the designer shops and department stores you expect in an Italian city

Orio al Serio airport is one of the budget carrier's hubs and is served by Ryanair from airports in Scotland Ireland and England as well as a bucket load of other European cities

Short stay destination worth a second look

In Piazza Vecchia in the Citta Alta there are numerous points of interest - one famous example is the Contarini fountain.

Tends to be a long weekend for most visitors, we were only here Fridayand Satruday nights late November 2007, but definitely plan to have a second look another year

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:Lots of points of interest, good hotels, easy to get to
  • Cons:Maybe a bit short of restaurant options in the centre?
  • In a nutshell:Scenic, busy, city like & rustic at once, a compact little Italy
