| | General Juneau is worth far more that a day on a cruise stopover. We went for a family wedding and stayed 9 days - WE STILL DID'NT GET TO GO EVERYWHERE WE WANTED.
Its a lovely compact town and if you are lucky enough to be there during good weather it is fun.
Downtown is a bit too touristy for me with all the stores catering to the cruise ships of which there are now 4 or 5 in a day (TOO MUCH) but the rest of the town is worth exploring. |
Wildlife Now I have a wildlife curse and always will. 9 days in Juneau and still not a whale to be seen!
However, we had eagles nesting right beside our accommodation - a black bear walking across the road, harbour porpoises, stellar jays etc etc.
But beware of the Mosquitoes - they are letal if you are prone. And if you are going fishing at Fish Creek in particular - wear a netting mask over your head. Trust me!! | | |

Tongras National Park out at Auke Bay is my particular favourite. Amazing scenery, cool walks and a recreation area for having a BBQ later! |
