Home for a while

I lived in Boston for a year. Although I made some cool friends, a year was enough for me as I like to walk and enjoy street life and that was quite hard to do in much of the area apart from the center of town. Also people seemed to rise and go to bed very early. Memories of a little Chinese lady who used to raid our bins for bottles at 4am waking up the whole house and a postal delivery worker 'barking' angrily down my answerphone at 7 am particularly spring to mind. (Prompting me to say 'How Dare You' in an accent like the Queen all of a sudden, when I don't usually speak like that he he )

Still, aside from the cultural differences and once the unbelievably long winter had passed (I will never complain about a UK winter again!) - some good times were had ... and as I say, some good friends were made.

I am popping up more tips as I get the time. I have listed a few of my favourite hang-outs and stores (rather than the obvious tourist places that many VT members have covered so well already) for the interest of those who may be visiting or moving to Beantown soon.
Hanging Out on the Porch at Galaxy Park Studio

Hanging Out

Some of my best times were had hanging out on the porch with Richard Marr at Galaxy Park Studio.(You had to keep an eye out for 'The Skunk'!). Pictured here, myself, Richard and Sisters nos 1 and 2 when they were visiting.

Pros:"Coastal area, Beautiful countryside, Spring & Autumn (Fall) is a nice time"
Cons:"Long cold winters, Not much street culture, Nobody walks!"
In A Nutshell:"An interesting place to live for a while, but not for too long.."

Wow! It's amazing how much things change. The Boston I knew use to be a city full of people who loved to get up & get outside. Then again...back then a ticket in the Bleachers at Fenway was only $7.

Hmm, looks like that winter of snow you're talking about was the winter I grew my beard...coincidence? ;) Haven't made it into Dali yet, but there's no lack of good restaurants here. I'll have to try Dali out soon! Cheers!
