The best of the beach chiriguitos was El Penon. It is right by the rock El Penon and has the freshest seafood and fabulous plates of fresh fruit.

We were recommended to this restaurant by the owners of our house and it was a great recommendation.

The views of the coastline and surrounding mountains from the terrace bar are fantastic too.

In the evening, they barbecue fresh octopus in a little boat, the flames making a great atmosphere as the sun sets.

If you are staying in the old town on the rock as we were, a visit to Bar Peseta is a must. Recommended to us by the owners of our house.

We found our way (through the tunnel, but that's another story) there one evening. If the small people have a siesta in the afternoon, you can take them out quite late without them being tired, and they are welcome nearly everywhere in Spain.

Bar Peseta combines a traditional bar downstairs (cheap, with free tapas) with more elegant dining upstairs and on the roof terrace (more expensive), the latter offering panoramic views of the town.

    Favorite Dish: Great Gazpacho Soup.
Good tapas in the downstairs bar.

Nice page for a place I'd never heard off. You write nice tips, so I find myself being "jealous" for not having visited Salobrena!!! I love the photos of the girls by the way, It seems they get you inspired :)

Far out! That's what I like to see: mostly very detailed tips. I have had bad luck with octopus. Everywhere I have eaten it served it as tough as Chinese arithmetic.
