Spent just under a month in Spain Aug 05 - most of it spent in Salobrena followed by a few days in the mountain village of Niguelas.
Salobrena is on the Granada coast, just under an hours drive through the Lecrin valley from Granada city. It's a white-washed small town, which clings to a rock set back a short distance from the Mediterranean sea. The rock is topped by a Moorish 10th century castle and the town is surrounded by protected sugar-cane plantations. It boasts a fabulous climate, unspoilt walks, clean beaches and some quality (and some not so quality! ) cultural activities. It is also very much a traditional Spanish family resort, and an extremely good spot to take small people.
Salobrena is an extremely laid - back, unsophisticated kind of place, perfect for a relaxing, carefree family holiday.
There was myself, my amiga 'the Gypsy Dancer' and three Small People - Can't say it was easy getting back into the hurry of life in the UK and wearing a watch again ; )
More soon. |
| | Sunset over the water - Salobrena The Gypsy Dancer took this one...Dusk is such a great time in Salobrena, with the sun setting over the water, the smell of barbecued fish, a bunch of relaxed and happy people of all ages with natures backdrop, the sort that no modern technology can replace.... |
| | The Streets of Salobrena Wandering around the little streets is a pleasure in itself ...There isn't much in the way of shops, but some lovely little cafe-bars where you still receive a complimentary tapa with each drink. |

MariaK Fri Jul 21, 2006 10:45 UTC Nice page for a place I'd never heard off. You write nice tips, so I find myself being "jealous" for not having visited Salobrena!!! I love the photos of the girls by the way, It seems they get you inspired :) | blint Fri Oct 14, 2005 18:58 UTC I'm glad to hear you had a good holiday! | b1bob Fri Sep 23, 2005 19:41 UTC Far out! That's what I like to see: mostly very detailed tips. I have had bad luck with octopus. Everywhere I have eaten it served it as tough as Chinese arithmetic. |
