The Village of Botley, Buckinghamshire

by amapola66 - last update: Aug 10, 2006

Village in the Chiltern Hills

Broomstick Lane
Botley is a small village in the country of Buckinghamshire, England. It is surrounded by the beauty of the Chiltern hills.

Mum runs a little B & B called 'Katsina' in the village which is handy for all things English countryside. The house is named after a ship my Grandmother christened when she was alive and in the long lost era of Liverpool's shipping empire (see hotel tips).

There are some good local pubs with restaurants within walking distance of Katsina and quite a few interesting historical buildings to explore.

Local pathways make for some some very beautiful traditional English countryside walks through woodlands and hills. Spring and Autumn are particularly good times for rambling.

The towns of Hemel Hempstead and Watford is also nearby, the latter being really good for some bargain shopping, not forgetting their great football team in Vicarage Road naturally ; )

The local Ley Hill common has live music, fairs and fetes and dancing around a Maypole in the spring and summer months. There are also sporting facilities for golfers, horse riders and cricketers.

It's classic taste of traditional English village life really.

Chesham station is a 5 min drive for the the tubeline into London.

As I say, springtime is the right time. Pictured here, a springtime view of the back garden of Katsina taken just this morning (Apr 05) when the trees are just bursting into blossom.
