I don't suggest walking too far away from Las Vegas Blvd. (main casino strip) during the night. There are some shady people wondering the streets at night. Don't walk to Rio Casino and Palms Casino after dark. Take a taxi. Those two casinos appear to be close to the main strip, but they are pretty far away.

One really annoying thing about Vegas is the fact that you will see 15 people standing on the side of the street giving away whole catalogs and baseball-size cards advertising nude women and their services. They will reach out and try to get you to take 1, but you just walk by them and do not pay any attention to them. The only other peroblem with this, is that the city would look much cleaner, but people that do take those cards and catalogs, throw them away on the street and all over the place.
