"Kanyakumari" Kanniyakumari by navendu_shirali

He has been a great inspiration to me, always wanted to go here. Boarded the train from Chennai to Kanyakumari, the journey is splendid with a section where on both sides of the railway track are endless windmills. I reached KK late morning. Did the blunder of taking accomodation in hostel of Tamil Nadu Tourist home,. extremely pathetic conditions, horrible sanitation in the hostel section. I paid for the room but dint stay even for 10 mins there. just changed the clothes. Full of musqiotes. very bad accomodation in cheap rooms, where as the rooms facing the sea were lavish comparitevly.

I spent around 5 hours on the picturesque island, meditated looking at all 3 seas- Arabian, Indian Ocean & Bay of Bengal. Felt extremely energised. with waves crashing into the rocks. was faboulus. The monument in honour of Swami Vivekananda is well done, also hosts a mediatation room, a book store . The island has clean toilets and well maintained ambience.

Shells

Everyone hawker in KK has tried selling sea shells, or is selling rite now. they take 10-20 rs to inscribe your name on them,
the most ironic part of my visit was i wanted to see the sunrise or sunset and i missed both coz of train tickets were booked in a way that clashed with their timings. plz do make an overnite stay here to see the amazing sunrise and sunset...
KK also has an amazing temple, supposed to be a Diamond laded idol of the goddess Kanya Kumari, the temple is extremely dark interior based and the only light u see is streaks of sun rays and wick based lamps "diyas". and then when u see the idol its all sparkling.
