It's Never Enough

by sunlovey - last update: May 6, 2009

Rain forests- & volcanos-bound

In its presence. UNREAL.
Recent, as well as Up and coming jaunts, you ask?

...Those of you who KNOW me, know though, that my heart tugs me towards India. It's a restless sensation in my soul. Maybe, just maybe, we'll make a go of getting THERE. That, would make my life. Not my day, my life. I don't know, stay tuned... 2007 has FLOWN by hasn't it? India/Nepal is just DAYS AWAY. I can't imagine what this journey will be like, can't even begin to fathom it. I want to live, learn, eat, shop, and as always come home changed/enlightened in some way.

**A couple years ago I was roaming the souks of Magical Marrakesh... with stops in Madrid both ways for a touch of tapas, I'm happy to say! Marrakesh seemed to enlighten and inspire me more than any other place I've ever travelled to... I want to implement my experiences and time there in to my daily life, I want to continue to feel close to that place. A mental overhall, a sensory awakening, a new aesthetic vision. MARRAKESH.

**Aug. 10-14th 2006- Playa del Carmen Mexico Acanto Hotel
Sarah y Abuelita storm the Yucatan peninsula!

** Dec. 15th-17 2006 NYC Residing at The Jolly Hotel with easy breezy plans of eating at Cafe Spice and checking out the holiday decorations.

**June 2007 Cleveland, Ohio & Erie, Pennsylvania. A family funeral and a whole lot of flying and driving between the two states. Ate creative Mexican at Lopez and had delectable cheese danishes from Stone Oven in Cleveland; also visited a nice park with a fun creek called South Euclid.

** Sept. 2007 Georgia Mountain Getaway- We're taking the Key West madness & mayhem up into the Blue Ridge this year. Change of scenery, same great madness though. (this trip was too perfect, if only we'd had more time there)

**Nov. 12th, 2007 It's happening. We're going to India (and Nepal). Flights are BOOKED. It's ON! Is it possible to O.D. on curry???? The answer: yes. Was fab. And this many months later I am finally revisiting my photos, my journal and reflecting on this insanely sensory journey.

** Dec. 27 2007-Jan. 1 2008 Back to the ATL & Up to the mountains once again. Never had a new years eve in the mountains before, a first time for everything. WAS amazing. No snow though.

***April 2008 ARUBA. Husband won a trip. So we're going. Not on my wish list, or hell, even my radar... but it's a trip and I'm going! Stay tuned.

***May 2008 COSTA RICA. I'm craving some rain forest. Thus, we're going. With a madness & mayhem crew in tow.... Costa Rica was perfect. We stayed in Arenal at the most fabulous place. Arenal Springs Hotel. The grounds were like a botanical garden, the swim up bar and bartender were fabulous. The volcano, spectacular! The zip lines MY FAVORITE THING EVER.

***December 2008 Germany for Christmas- BOOKED it WAS beautiful!!!

***June 2009 EGYPT. Cairo is booked and my head is spinning at the thought.
Riding camels in Marrakesh

A favorite this far...

Travel revolves around food & drink for moi

As I create my travel pages I begin to see a pattern- one of the things I remember most vividly about where we've been is what we ate and drank. So if you're into eating, my pages are for you!

I try to have reasonable expectations based upon my locale. And sometimes I'm blown away by how fantastic a place turns out. Other times, of course I'm disappointed, but we've all got vastly different tastebuds so I try not to tear a place down unless it -sucks- on more levels than the fare alone.

I should also add that I lean towards vegetarian selections, so you'll never find tips from me on where to get the juciest steak or the most decadent burger. Cows, my friends, are just too darned cute to be eaten in my book.
Lobste bisque & vino... decadence I live for!

South Florida... (home)

South Florida is unique because it encompasses one oceanfront city after another creating a feeling of one massive 120-mile long city down interstate 95 from Jupiter to the north to Miami to the south. Get off 95 at almost any exit heading east and you'll reach the beach.

Along the way you'll pass by elegant malls, charming downtowns with shops and outdoor cafes, wonderful museums, great nightlife, etc. I am slowly trying to build up my South Florida pages with a focus on West Palm Beach and Miami, plus further south to Key West.

If you have questions about this area, feel free to ask me and I'll try my best to help you out.

Ah! Brazil. If it's not on your wish list, add it.

Views from a chopper going to the Canyon

If you find yourself in Vegas, divert a couple hundred bucks from your gambling fund to a brilliant helicopter ride to the Grand Canyon. The pay out is much more valuable. See my tip under Las Vegas.. :-)

Pleeeease send me a postcard!

****Got a great idea from travelchili, so I thought I'd give it a go! If any of you kind hearted people want to send me a postcard from your travels OR from where you live (I collect them) that would be entirely cool and nice of you. I'll give you a mailing address if you e-mail me, thanks ****

Miss geisha_girl has managed to outdo the mighty postcard! (imagine that!) With an autographed VT thong... I'm truly blessed! Muchas gracias Geisha, ChrisRJ and all you lovely others that made me feel so loved!

Oh and Kaspian, I thank you for heading up both Toronto and London postcards, signed by many, for little moi at your various VT meets.

Terps94, Travelchili herself as well as Coair13 have sent me many a postcard, muchas gracias!

And there's one on the way from Siddarth, right?? This never came to pass mister! You owe me one! :-)

Thank you Faye for the postcard from the Lake District, loved it!

EGYPT BOUND

Egypt trip planning is under way... And it looks like this so far:
First four days/nights in the city of Cairo, staying at Hotel Osiris.
Side/day trip to Alexandria during this time.
Then... an overnight train from Cairo to Luxor-------
Three days/nights in Luxor at Iberotel
possible side trip if we wish to Aswan
Then... an overnight train back to Cairo from Luxor------
Three days/nights in Giza at Le Meridien
possible side trip to Memphis if we wish
Then we fly home.

Would love thoughts and advice from others who've traveled to Egypt.
Thank you!

.....JUST SAY NO TO WEIRDOS.......
Sorry if this comes across as witchy, BUT I am witchy (please substitute the W with a B, thanks).

How about you not e-mail me if you don't have one single tip, travelogue or picture on your site?

It pretty much weirds me out. It's like someone calling you on the phone, (provided you don't have caller I.D.) saying odd things and not identifying themselves. Not good. Don't do it. Thanks.
