What a marvelous place to relax and enjoy the beautiful island of Kauai. The hotel is just one of the few places that offer air conditioning for their condo rooms. The Poipu Plantation is located on the south and sunny shores of Poipu beach. We got to the hotel after hours so our room key and directions were waiting for us on a message board. Our condo was the "Macadamia" room, this was by far the best room offered, not because it was fancy but because it was at the back of the complex, a seculed upstairs unit with a great lanai to sit and relax, have a drink or a cup of coffee and watch the ocean, mountains and the world go by.. The room was a one bedroom with a King size bed. It hads a full kitchen and dining area. The bathroom was a bit stark and the only amenities offered was a bar of soap. So make sure you bring hand lotion and shampoo supplies. There were 3 sliding patio doors which we opened at night and early in the day, this coupled with the tradewinds made for pleasant temperatures at night and early morning. The air conditioning came in handy for cooling off the room rapidly when it was needed.
Unique Qualities: The Plantation Poipu offered use of a gas grill and a hot tub on a deck tucked away amid the tropical trees and flowers. They had coin laundry on site which was both convenient and economical. The cost of the condo was an amazing rate of $135 per night which is an outstanding rate and they offer a reduced rate for those visitors who return for another stay. The Poipu Plantation has 2 bedroom 2 bath condos which are great for family stays. There is also a 1938 plantation home on the property with four excellent Kauai "Bed and Breakfast" rooms. Breakfast is not available for the guests who rent the condos.
