I first visited Prague in 2003 and enjoyed it so much I have returned 6 times since then. My wife and I have eaten in what I believe are some of the nicest restaraunts in the city, and have also found what must be some of the least expensive places to eat and drink in reasonable surroundings. The picture on My home page is of the hunger wall - which I believe was a social work programme to keep a starving people in work, funded by the crown. and the yellow building to the left of the picture is where the apartment we usually stay in is located.
We have stayed in hotels in Prague but do prefer an apartment. I would reccomend the one we use as it is both central and inexpensive
Although never stay in the old town, I really enjoy walking across the bridge and visiting during the day. I do find at night there can be too many people trying to drag me into this bar and that bar (although not as bad as Wencelaslas Square area) Also pick pockets are rife here. Especially around the old town square, with many people staring at the clock. I have on occasion stood and watched them operate - and tipped off potential victims who are being targetted.
No trip to prague would be complete without samping the local beers.
A small pub I have found on Vitezna street in Mala Strana is one of my favouites (I even took a picture of the pub sign)
another is on the other side of the river, quite hard to find in a cellar, but the beer and food are wonderful and very cheap. Last year I visited with a bunch of friends and I bought the first round 10 pints of Lager and 20 Marlborough lites. It cost me just £6.20 - I love this place

It's worth visiting the Lesser Town just to go in St Nich's. And you'll probably be passing it on the way to the castle... more travel advice

bad news about the Opera Grill... We called and they told us that the restaurant was shut for good a couple of months ago...I will use your other tips 4 restaurants though :-)
